United Nations Development Assistance Framework - Senegal

Meeting between Mr. Amadou Ba, Minister of Economy and Finance and Mrs Bintou Djibo, coordinator of the UN System in Senegal

The United Nations Development Assistance Framework, UNDAF is a document prepared jointly by a country government and the country team of the United Nations in this country.

The UNDAF describes shared actions and strategies that the United Nations intends to implement in order to contribute to the achievement of the country development goals. The UNDAF details objectives, activities and responsibilities of each UN agency as accepted by the national government. Usually, the framework plan is signed for three years and includes many revisions of an ongoing nature.

In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly, during the triennial general review of policies (TCPR), examined the operational activities of the UN system and recommended that the system in charge of development intensifies its collaboration in the country and at regional levels to strengthen national capacities, in particular by supporting the United Nations Development Assistance Framework.
The United Nations Framework Plan for Assistance in Development is bound to Senegal Emergent Plan (PES) which is the reference document for economic and social development policy of Senegalese Government. Senegal has decided to adopt a new development model to accelerate its march towards emergence. This strategy, known as Plan Senegal Emergent (PSE), is the repository of social and economic policy in the medium and long term.
